Replacement Parts & Repairs for Your Aqua Bound Paddle

5-minute read

Aqua Bound paddles are built to go the distance. But let’s face reality: they can experience wear and tear over time. And sometimes accidents happen—like losing half a paddle off your trailer or at the boat launch.

Be assured that doesn’t necessarily mean the end of your paddle’s life.

We offer replacement parts and limited repair options to keep you on the water with the paddle you already own and love. Many small parts are easy for you to replace at home, while others might require help from our support team.

Common Replacement Parts You Can Order

Here are a few replacement parts we commonly sell individually to our customers:

Drip Rings

Drip rings are by far the most common replacement part we sell. Some avid paddlers like to order an additional set of drip rings right off the bat when they order their paddle, just to keep them handy.

Our drip rings have a universal fit across all our kayak paddles, so no matter your model, the drip rings will work.

You can order drip rings yourself without going through our Customer Service team.

Snap Buttons

Snap buttons are the small metal push buttons that hold the two sections of a kayak paddle together in the middle (if it has a snap button ferrule). We also use snap buttons on our 4-piece paddles where the blades attach to the shaft, and on our adjustable-length stand-up paddles.

Snap buttons are used on our 4-piece paddles, like this Whiskey, and on some of our ferrule systems

These metal buttons can wear out and rust over time, or even get lost during cleaning or storage.

To replace one or more snap buttons:

  • Contact our Customer Service team at 715-755-3405 or sales@aquabound.com
  • Provide your paddle model and approximate age
  • We’ll match the correct size snap button with your paddle (diameters and styles have changed over the years)

Spring Tabs on Our Posi-Lok™ Ferrule System

Our orange Posi-Lok™ ferrule systems—used on many of our kayak paddle models—feature dual spring tabs instead of snap buttons to provide a secure fit.

While these spring tabs rarely need replacing, after 10 or more years of frequent use, it’s possible they’ll wear. Most paddlers can replace these themselves with minimal effort.

Our Posi-Lok™ ferrule uses spring tabs, which can wear out over extensive use

Some avid kayakers like to keep a spare set on hand just in case, so they don’t have to wait for another set to be shipped to them before getting back on the water.

To order an extra set of spring tabs, simply get in touch with Customer Service at 715-755-3405 or sales@aquabound.com.

Less Common Replacement Needs

Here are a few replacement requests we see occasionally:

Replacement Blades

Once in a while, we get a request for a replacement blade for a kayak paddle. A customer may have broken theirs, lost one or left half their paddle behind mistakenly. This can especially happen with a 4-piece paddle as there are more pieces to keep track of.

Replacing a blade likely means you’ll need to send us the remaining half to ensure the proper fit. If you’re an exceptionally handy owner of a 4-piece paddle, you can request the blade and snap button and install it yourself with careful measuring and drilling.

Versa-Lok™ Parts

Our Versa-Lok™ ferrule components are built into the paddle and not meant to be removed. Thus, they’re not replaceable by customers. Any broken parts are handled under warranty, not as a standard replacement sale.

Our Versa-Lok™ ferrule is built into the paddle, so not replaceable by customers

You may occasionally need to tighten a bolt on your Versa-Lok™ ferrule, but as we’ve designed it to be extremely robust, it should last you for the life of your paddle.

How to Request Replacement Parts

The best way to request a replacement part is to call or email our Customer Service team at 715-755-3405 or sales@aquabound.com. Be prepared with your paddle model, approximate age and a brief description of the issue.

Another great way is to fill out the warranty form—even if it’s not a warranty issue—as that form asks you the kinds of questions our team will ask.

We want to get as many details as we can on the front end so we ensure you get the correct part the first time.

Cost and Shipping

The most common replacement parts—drip rings, spring tabs and snap buttons—are inexpensive, usually $5-$10. In fact, your main cost will be shipping.

And we’ll get your order turned around as quickly as we can so you can get back on the water as soon as it arrives.

Easy, Friendly Paddle Support

Our goal is to get and keep you on the water with a paddle you love so you can keep creating memorable outdoor experiences.

If you experience issues with any of your paddle’s parts, let us know. Even if you’ve lost half your paddle, run it over with your vehicle or stepped on it accidentally—get in touch with us before you throw it away.

We’d love the chance to help you repair or replace it before you need to invest in an entirely new paddle.

(Unless you’re looking for an excuse to buy a paddle you’ve been eyeing for a while—who are we to talk you out of that?!)
